Limited service during the summer

The National Library is open all summer, but we have different opening hours and it may take longer to get help. During certain weeks, some services and collections are closed. Also note that parts of the facade are covered due to repairs.

In June, July and August, the National Libary has reduced opening hours. On the Opening hours page, you will find the current information.

Longer response times

The Library's service is limited between 23 June and 18 August. This means that you may have to wait longer for a response in contact with staff, or when ordering material from the collections.

Closed collections

During 7 July and 10 August, it is not possible to order material from the following collections:

  • Manuscripts
  • Personal archives
  • Maps
  • Pictures
  • Photographs
  • Ephemera
  • Posters

We also have very limited service to answer questions about these specific collections during this period.

Audiovisual material

Our collections of audiovisual material, such as film, music and games, are closed between 28 July and 10 August. If you have a user account in SMDB, you can access already digitized material at the open areas with computers on floor 2 in the Annex.

The National Library’s Depot in Bålsta

The National Library’s Depot is closed on the following dates: 19 June, 23–26 June, 10–11 July and 16 July to 8 August.

The Rogge Library in Strängnäs

The Rogge Library has limited opportunities to receive visitors throughout the summer.

Interlibrary loans

From 23 June to 27 July, it is not possible to make interlibrary loans to or from the National Library.

Reproduction Service

Our reproduction service, which produces copies and reproductions, is closed from 1–11 August.

Donations

We are not able to accept donations to the library's collections from 23 June to 17 August. Kindly send your suggestion for a donation after that date.

Window renovation

We are currently renovating our windows. Therefore, the front is partially covered, but the main entrance is still accessible. The work may also cause disturbing noises inside the building.
